PLACEMENT AUDITION

A placement audition to determine technical ability and level is required of all dance majors upon entrance into the Department of Dance. This placement audition usually is scheduled for the last day of instruction of the previous semester. Call the Department for this date and time. For incoming freshmen or transfer students a VHS Videotape or DVD is accepted in lieu of attendance of this placement audition. We suggest this video include footage of you dancing in class and performance. Often students include dance sequences from class and perhaps a short solo. If group work is included It is important that we are able to distinguish you in the video. We ask that all videos be limited to 10 minutes. (Please note this video does not need to be fancy or professionally done.

A scholarship audition is scheduled for the last day of classes of the previous semester. On this day, students are asked to present a short solo demonstrating their technical dance abilities. For incoming Freshmen or Transfer students a VHS Videotape or DVD is accepted in leu of attendance of this audition. NOTE: THIS TAPE/DVD CAN BE THE SAME ONE USED FOR PLACEMENT EXAM.

THE NEXT PLACEMENT, SCHOLARSHIP AND BFA AUDITION IS May 2, 2009 AT 1:30 PM IN ROOM HFA 126. PLEASE CALL THE DEPARTMENT FOR EXACT TIMES AND LOCATIONS.Current Dance Majors Jury Exams will be accepted in place of the scholarship and placement audition.
