Bachelor of Fine Arts
Focuses upon an in-depth curriculum of professional dance technique, choreography and performance, in preparation for a professional career in dance.

Dance Production I The techniques of staging dance performance. The study of the principles of costume, lighting, sound and set design, make-up, box office management and publicity. Practical application in dance production. Prerequisite: Enrollment in any DAN 100 or 200 level classes. 3 credits.
DAN 369 (see p. 180)
Design for Dance
Aesthetics of the visual components of dance production and experience in practical application of design. Prerequisite: DAN 367. 3 credits.

Sound and Video Design for Dance
Sound Design and Video Design for Dance is a technical course, which provides an understanding in the principles of sound design, basic recording techniques and video design for dance productions developed through lectures, demonstrations, projects, and production involvement. Prerequisite: DAN 209 and 368. 3 credits.
DAN 371
Lighting Design for Dance I
A technical course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of lighting a stage for dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 367 and DAN 369. 3 credits.
DAN 372
Costume Construction for Dance
A technical course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of costume construction for dance production. Students will also learn techniques in makeup and hair application for dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 367. 3 credits.
DAN 373
Scenic Design for Dance I
A technical production and design course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques in design and construction of small scenic prop pieces as well as scenic painting for dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 367 and DAN 369. 3 credits.
DAN 380
Stage Management for Dance
A technical course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of stage management dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 368. 3 credits.
DAN 409 (currently DAN 406, see p. 180)
Electronic Music for Dance
Laboratory in the basic fundamentals of electronic music and its application to dance. Focuses on terminology, MIDI application, creation of sound scores, and discussions of choreographic possibilities. Prerequisites: DAN 209 and DAN 367. 3 credits
DAN 467 (currently DAN 469, see p. 181)
Dance Production II
Continuation of DAN 367 which focuses on individualized supervision of production projects. Students receive practical experience by serving as production technicians in stage management, lighting, sound, costuming and set design. Prerequisite: DAN 367.
3 credits.
DAN 471
Lighting Design for Dance II
A design course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of lighting design and the collaborative process of dance production on an advanced level. It is the continuation of DAN 371. Prerequisite: DAN 367, 369 and 371. 3 credits.
DAN 472
Costume Design for Dance
A design course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of costume design and construction for dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 367, 369 and 372. 3 credits.
DAN 473
Scenic Design for Dance II
A design course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques in design of scenery and scenic elements on a larger scale for dance production on stage as well as to be able to design for various performance venues other than the stage.
Prerequisite: DAN 367, 369 and 373. 3 credits.
DAN 475
Production Lab
A technical and design course which provides hands on experience in production work for dance production. Must be repeated to a maximum of 4 credits. Prerequisite: DAN 367 and 467. 1 credit.
DAN 480
Business of Dance
A theory course which provides an understanding in the principles and techniques of the business of professional dance production. Prerequisite: DAN 367. 3 credits.
